How Much Home Can You Afford to Buy for About $430,000
Year-to-date through October 2016, $430,000 is the median price of a home sold in Northern Virginia (reported by RealEstate Business Intelligence data). The median value is the midpoint of all houses for sale - half of the houses cost more and half cost less. It's a much more realistic indicator of a real estate market since the median is not affected by large deviations in the data like an average price is. So, how much home can you buy in Northern Virginia for about $430,000?
The Girls of Real Estate reviewed homes for sale in popular Northern Virginia places to live: Arlington, Falls Church, Haymarket and Springfield to get a snapshot of the type of home you can expect to buy now for around $430,000. We chose a price point of $425,000-$430,000 and have highlighted one property in each town. Our late November search yielded a total of 26 active and pending properties.
As you may have predicted, the homes with the largest interior square footage were found the further west you drive from Washington, DC (see the Haymarket VA home for sale below). There is however, a home for sale fairly close to DC in Falls Church with considerable exterior square footage.
