You can bet we were excited to see that some of our favorite communities are also the favorite of so many home buyers in our area. In the Washington Business Journal's recent article, Top 25 Hottest Neighborhoods, the venerable local publication assigned a score to every subdivision in Greater Washington.
We were surprised to see many neighborhoods that we serve, that don't normally make such lists, are getting their due. The Washington Business Journal suspects these places "are catching fire for their affordability." We know that may be true in the beginning, but there are so many reasons to enjoy life in the suburbs and outer suburbs. Contact us to learn more!
Northern Virginia Insights
- Buyers are opting to get more home for less money and trading in close proximity to DC. for homes in outer suburbs
- 5 communities are in Prince William County, second only to DC which leads the list with 8 neighborhoods
- Fairfax & Loudoun Counties each have 4 on the list
- Older adults are moving out west enough to land one PWC retirement community, Heritage Hunt, on the list in 2nd place
About the Top 25 List
WBJ based it's rankings on these factors:
- The increase in median sales price so far this year compared to last year,
- The decrease in the number of days these houses sat on the market before being sold, and
- The increase in price per square foot.
They subtracted out neighborhoods with too few home sales and applied their formula to determine the 25 hottest neighborhoods.
